Fuding Names Its 2026 Old White Tea "Tea Kings
A notarized panel named the two Fuding producers it judges best at aging white tea, in silver needle and white peony, at the second national old white tea competition.
Two Fuding companies took the top titles at the second National Fuding Old White Tea "Tea King" Competition, which concluded Saturday evening in Fuding, Fujian province.
Fuding Jingfuyuan Tea Industry Co., Ltd. was named Tea King for Bai Hao Yin Zhen (white hair silver needle). Fuding Baimei Laodao Tea Industry Co., Ltd. was named Tea King for Bai Mudan (white peony). The two grades were judged as separate categories, so the results name two producers, not one.
The competition, run under the name "Double World Heritage Cup," was organized by the Fuding Tea Industry Association and co-organized by Liu Miao White Tea Co., Ltd. It was held at the Fuding Jinlong Hotel, and the results were certified by a notary public.
Entries were old white tea, white tea deliberately stored and aged for years rather than drunk fresh. Judging ran on two tracks. Expert judges assessed craftsmanship, storage condition, and aging transformation. Public judges assessed palatability, aroma approachability, and everyday drinkability.
Nearly 100 public judges took part, including participants from Russia and Egypt, according to the organizers.
Special gold, gold, and silver medals were awarded in both grade categories, along with recognitions for best taste, best public judge, and best tea-ceremony presentation.
The organizers said the competition is meant to promote quality and expand sales for old white tea. They said it also supports the Fuding geographical-indication brand and standardized production and storage practices.
